PASTE TYPE NICKEL POSITIVE ELECTRODE FOR ALKALINE STORAGE BATTERY

PURPOSE:To provide a paste type Ni pos. electrode for use in a high performance alkaline storage battery by using an admixture as active substance chiefly containing Ni hydroxide, whereto Ni powder of flake form is added. CONSTITUTION:Flake-form Ni powder is fabricated from usual Ni powder, which is crushed by a ball mill through the wet type process. This flake-form Ni. powder exhibits a high electroconductivity, i.e., the resistance is 1/5 times as large as that of usual Ni powder. This flakey Ni powder consists of plate- shaped particles of 10X10mum approximately, and the thickness is 1mum. Thus the flakey Ni powder has a high electrocondictivity, and if added to active substance it can improve the electroconductivity of active substance with smaller adding amount than when usual Ni powder is used, which should in turn enhance the service rate of the active substance.
