CONDUCTIVE FILM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain a conductive film excellent in mechanical properties, heat stability and stability in air by impregnating a swollen film, prepared by coagulating an aromatic polyamide solution, with an aqueous solution of a specified compound by contact and drying and heat-treating the film while restraining its shrinkage. CONSTITUTION:A swollen film obtained by coagulating an aromatic polyamide solution (e.g. poly-p-phenyleneterephthalamide solution) is impregnated with an aqueous solution of p-xylylenebis(dimethylsulfonium chloride) or poly(p- xylylene-alpha-dimethylsulfonium chloride) by contact and drying and heat-treating it while restraining its shrinkage to produce an aromatic polyamide film having a conductivity >=1S/cm. This film is excellent in mechanical properties, heat stability and stability in air, so that it can be used as a packaging mateiral or a housing for electronic components such as IC and LSI and for an antistatic use of the floor, wall or ceiling of a factory for their manufacture, a window pane of a cleanroom, etc.
