Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve luminous efficiency up to a level nearly equal to a conventional luminous level available from the use of barium titanate by forming an alumite layer on the surface of a rear electrode as an insulation layer and providing a luminous layer on the surface of the alumite layer via the coating of a phosphor having a mean particle size of 20mum or less. CONSTITUTION:An EL lamp is constituted with a luminous layer 1, an insulation layer 2 positioned at the rear side thereof, a pair of electrodes 3 and 4 so positioned as to be opposite to each other clamping the aforesaid luminous layer 1 and insulation layer 2, water retaining films 5 and 6 for enclosing the electrodes 3 and 4, and adsorbing the atmosphere, and moisture proof skin films 7 and 8 for enclosing the whole of the foregoing. As the electrode 4 beneath the insulation layer 2, an aluminum foil is used and an alumite layer is formed on the aforesaid electrode 4 as an insulation layer. The luminous layer 1 has phosphor particles uniformly dispersed in a binder and is applied to the surface of the insulation layer 2 reflecting light. The phosphor of the luminous layer 1 is so adjusted as to have a mean particle size of 20mum or less. According to the aforesaid construction, luminous efficiency and brightness can be remarkably improved.
