description PURPOSE:To obtain a hot air type electric heater which can heat to a high temperature in a noncontact state by forming many heat resistant and electric insulating section members having penetrating passage in which heating wires are passed, and incorporating the members in a housing having an air entrance/ exit and a blower. CONSTITUTION:An air stream generated by a blower 4 flows along the inside in a housing 1 to be straightened by a straightening lattice 5 and passed upward through penetrating passages 1b of section members 2 in which heating wires 3 are filled. The members 2 are heated to a high temperature by the wires 3. The air which passes through the passages 2b of the members 2 is heated by both the heat transferred from the wires 3 and the members 2 having large heat transfer area and radiation, sequentially discharged from the passages 2b in contact with matters to be heated, and the matters are heated to a high temperature. In this case, the wires 3 are so extended in one passage 2b as to allow one or two linear parts to exist therein, and the ratio of the sectional areas of the one passage 2b to the wires 3 is set to 1:1 to 20:1.
