description | PURPOSE:To obtain the lubricating film for which a solvent having no problems in environmental destruction by applying an emulsion consisting of a fluropolymer compd., surfactant and dispersion medium on a base plate and drying the coating. CONSTITUTION:The fluoropolymer compd. perfluoro polyether(PFPE), the surfactant (more particularly a nonionic fluorocarbon polymer) and the dispersion medium (preferably water) is applied on the base plate and is dried. The PFPE and the waver are held separated to the two layers if both are merely mixed but if the surfactant is interposed thereon, the hydrophilic group thereof bonds to the water and the hydrophobic group bonds to the high polymer, thereby uniformly dispersing both and forming the emulsion. The above-mentioned emulsion forms the lubricating film consisting of 1 to 10 pts.wt. PFPE, 1 to 10 pts.wt. surfactant and 10 to 1000 pts.wt. dispersion medium. The method for forming the lubricating film is applied to magnetic recording media. The possibility of the environmental destruction is eliminated and a considerable cost reduction is attained. |
