Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To obtain the recording material, containing the DIR coupler capable of immediately releasing an inhibitor by using a specified DIR coupler. CONSTITUTION: The DIR coupler to be used is represented by formula I in which R represents an H or Cl atom or a -CF3 , alkoxy, or sulfamoyl group; R represents an H or Cl atom or an alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, or carbamoyl; (n) is 0, 1, or 2; X represents an O or S: Y represents a development inhibiting group in color development; and Z represents a benzoyl, pivaloyl, carbamoyl, or quinazolin-4-on-2-yl group, thus permitting the obtained recording material containing the DIR coupler to release the development inhibitor immediately upon the development.
