SKIN DRUG FOR EXTERNAL USE FOR THERAPY OF PIMPLE

PURPOSE:To obtain an external medicine for the therapy of pimple, having high safety and stability, free from side effect, producible from an easily available raw material, exhibiting antibacterial property and useful for the therapy or prevention of pimple by using abietic acid as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective external drug for the therapy of pimple exhibits antibacterial property against bacteria in the pollicle of pimple, extremely low stimulation compared with hinokitiol and resorcinol and excellent ameliorating activity to pimple and is stable over a long period. The drug can be produced by compounding 0.005-5wt.%, preferably 0.01-2.0wt.% of abietic acid as an active component to a skin drug for external use. Abietic acid is a component of rosin which is a main component of pine resin and is used in cosmetic, etc., at a high concentration because it is easily available and has high safety relative to its high antibacterial activity compared with other antibacterial agents. Rosin containing abietic acid as a main component may be used as the active component.
