PICKUP DRIVING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To correctly control a pickup with low power consumption by linking so that the driving coil of a linear motor and the pickup may move in opposite directions and setting equal the weights of the pickup side and the driving coil side. CONSTITUTION:When power is supplied to a driving coils 23c of a linear motor 23 and it is moved in a C direction, the driving force of the coil 23c is transmitted to an optical pickup 17 through a rack member 24, a gear 26, a rack member 21 and a slider 18 and it is transferred in a D direction. When the coil is moved in the D direction, the pickup 17 is transferred in the C direction. Consequently, when the D direction is set as the direction of gravity and the weights of the pickup 17 side and the coil 23c side are set equal, the gravity balances and it is unnecessary to support the weight of the pickup 17 side by the driving of the motor 23. Thus, the pickup can be correctly controlled without always supplying current to the driving coil.
