PURPOSE:To provide a stable shot a flying distance of which is high by a method wherein a heavy body approximately in a annular shape is situated along the inner periphery of the side wall of the outer shell of a body of fiber-reinforced plastics and positioned in a level lower than a half the height of a face surface, and a reinforcing material is placed to the inside of the body face surface. CONSTITUTION:Since a heavy body 6 approximately in a annular shape is disposed along the inner periphery of a side wall part 2 of a head body 1, annular structure prevents deformation of the head body 1 during driving, and energy during driving is prevented from diminution due to deformation of a head. Further, since the heavy body 6 is positioned in a level lower than 1/2 the height of a face surface 3, the center of gravity of the head coincides with the central part or a position therebelow where there is high probability for a ball to collide therewith, whereby the rotation action of the head during driving is decreased and back spin exerted on a ball is reduced. Further, since a reinforcing material 7, e.g., a metal, ceramics is disposed to the inner side of the face surface 3 in a manner to make contact therewith, the face surface 3 is reinforced, and there is no need to especially increase the thickness of the face surface 3 as in a head made of FRP.
