Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound which can give a polyurethane excellent in strength and elasticity, by graft-polymerizing a radical-polymerizable vinyl monomer with an ester of a polyether-polyol with an SH group-containing dicarboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:An ester is formed by reacting a polyether-polyol such as poly (oxyethylene/oxypropylene)glycelol with a mercapto group-containing dicarboxylic acid or its reactive derivative, e.g., thiomalic acid, in the presence of a catalyst, e.g., p-toluenesulfonic acid. A radical-polymerizable vinyl monomer, e.g., methyl acrylate or styrene, is graft-polymerized with the above-obtained ester to obtain the purpose polyhydroxyl compound. This compound can be reacted with an isocyanate group-containing compound in the presence of a blowing agent, a catalyst, etc., to obtain a polyurethane material.
