PURPOSE:To permit to effect the optimum air-conditioning by a method wherein first and second temperature sensitive elements are switched automatically based on a given condition in the air conditioner controlled by a remote controller transmitting an optical signal. CONSTITUTION:In case direct sun beams strike the first temperature sensitive element 1 of the remote controller or a heat source is placed near the remote controller, the receiving unit 11 of main body of the air-conditioning machine receives it and the data of temperature values from the first temperature sensitive element 1, inputted into a switching circuit 21, show an abnormal high temperature. Accordingly, the temperature values data become very higher than the same data from the second temperature sensitive element 17 and the switching circuit 21 decides that the remote controller is under an abnormal temperature condition when the difference of the temperature values becomes higher than a predetermined value whereby the output of the circuit 21 is switched to the temperature data from the second temperature sensitive element 17. Thereafter, when an user separates the remote controller from the abnormal temperature values data, transmitted from the first temperature sensitive element 1, become normal values, the switching circuit 21 recognizes them and returns the output thereof to the temperature values data from the first temperature sensitive element 1.
