The coating is applied on a nonmagnetic substrate in desired thickness by spin coating and baked, and then the surface is lapped. Since the two kinds of Al2O3 having a different grain diameter are incorporated to reinforce the coating film and allowed to play a different role in reinforcing the coating film, the durability of the coating film is improved, and a medium excellent in S/N is obtained.
