description PURPOSE:To efficiently measure a large number of specimens with good reliability by allowing an eluent prepared by adding an ion pair agent for an anion to a buffer with org. solvent content of 5% or less and pH of 6 - 8 to flow to a separation column packed with a porous polymer. CONSTITUTION:An ion pair agent for an anion is added to a buffer with org. solvent content of 5% or less and pH of 6 - 8 to prepare an eluent which is, in turn, allowed to flow to a separation column 3 packed with a porous polymer through a liquid feed pump 1 and a specimen injector 2. The greatest part of urine components is ionized to elute the urine components and uric acid, HVA (homovanillic acid), VMA (vanillylmandelic acid) and creatinine in urine are well separated by the ion pair agent. The separated HVA and VMA are detected by a selective high sensitivity fluorescence detector 4 and creatinine is detected by an ultraviolet detector 5. These detection signals are operated by a two-channel integrator 6 and a HVA/creatinine value and a VMA/ creatinine value are calculated.
