Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE: To improve cracking hydrogenation reaction, or the like, by carrying a compd. of at least one group VIII metal of the Periodic Table as a catalytically active component on a support and reducing the resultant refining catalyst under specified conditions before its use. CONSTITUTION: A catalytically active component comprising a compd. of one or more group VIII metals of the Periodic Table is carried on a support to form a refining catalyst. This catalyst is impregnated with an aq. soln. of a reducing agent such as an aldehyde having 2-14 carbon atoms per one molecule or a ketone having 3-18 carbon atoms per one molecule to introduce 10 ppm to 100 wt.% of the reducing agent into the catalyst. The catalyst is then treated at 100-150 deg.C under 1-10 bar pressure, and the impregnated solvent and produced water are removed by drying. The refining catalyst is thus reduced before its use. |
