CONSTITUTION:When any reason such as failure in sensor systems or request from the engine side does not allow implementation of scheduled program, even though the shift concerned is such that an alteration control of the engine torque is to be made theoretically, it is sensed quickly by a sensing means. Only when the load sensed by an engine load sensing means is over a specified value, a shift pattern altering means alters the alteration pattern into the fail alteration pattern in which the shift point is set to a relatively low value so as to serve for emergency. This enables early conduction of shifting to lead to enhancing the durability of a friction engagement device.
