The tip of an elastoplastic damper 4 of metal formed in approx. U-shape is fixed to the superstructure and foundation 3 using respective fixtures 7, 8. This damper 4 absorbs energy while deforming elastoplastically in compliance with horizontal load. This provides an anti-seismic device effective over the whole amplitude range, great and small.
