CONSTITUTION:In a method subjecting a dihydrated gypsum slurry to pressure hydrothermal treatment at temperature exceeding 100 deg.C in a reactor and transferring the slurry to alpha type hemihydrate gypsum, the slurry is treated as follows: (1) alpha Type hemihydrate gypsum slurry drawn out from the reactor is led to a flash tank, where the slurry is subjected to gas-liquid separation into flash steam and alpha type hemihydrate gypsum while retaining conditions of temperature and time without causing dihydration of alpha type hemihydration. (2) Then the slurry is subjected to solid-liquid separation into cleaned liquid and alpha type hemihydrate gypsum cake while retaining conditions of temperature and time without causing dihydration of alpha type hemihydrate gypsum at ordinary pressure.
