PRODUCTION OF VINYLCYCLOHEXANE MONOEPOXIDE AND/OR CYCLOHEXANE DIEPOXIDE

PURPOSE:To produce the subject compounds while suppressing the formation of polymers in distillation separation step and reducing the separation loss, etc., by epoxidizing 4-vinyl 1-cyclohexene with a peracid, washing the epoxidized crude reaction liquid with an aqueous solution, etc., and separating the objective compound by distillation. CONSTITUTION:The objective vinylcyclohexene monoxide and cyclohexane diepoxide can be produced by epoxidizing 4-vinyl 1-cyclohexene with a peracid, washing the crude reaction liquid with 0.1-10 pts.vol. of water based on 1 pt.vol. of the crude liquid or with an alkaline aqueous solution containing 0.1-10mol of an alkali compound based on 1mol of the acid existing in the reaction liquid to remove the peracid, acid, etc., from the crude reaction liquid and separating the objective compound from the reaction mixture by various distillation processes. Vinylcyclohexene monoxide is useful as a production raw material for silane-coupling agent useful for the surface-treatment of glass fiber and inorganic filler and effective in improving the strength of rubber or plastic mixed with the reinforcing material and cyclohexane diepoxide is useful as a diluent for epoxy resin, etc.
