Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To obtain optical fiber with optically superior characteristics by atomizing melted liquid glass, stacking the atomized glass on a base plate successively to cool it immediately and then wire-drawing the obtained superior, transparent and uniform massive glass excluding bubbles. CONSTITUTION:Melted glass liquid is charged in a platinum container 11 and held at 900 deg.C and the melted glass liquid 13 atomized by an ultrasonic oscillator 12 is blown from a nozzle 16 through a carrying pipe 15 by gaseous argon from a bomb 14. The blown atomized gas is successively stacked on a starting base material 18 to form a glass body 19. In this case, crystalization or phase splitting is prevented because of rapid cooling and the glass body 19 is made optically uniform. In addition, inclusion of bubbles are prevented because of the successive stack of thin film-like glass. The proper change of the component of the atomized glass make it possible to compose the glass body having optional distribution of refractive index in the radial vector direction. |
