Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To avoid undesirable fogging and to promote growth of good silver halide grains inviting good latent image stability by forming the precipitates of silver halide grains precipitated in the presence of a gelatin containing a specified substance into featherlike crystals and rinsing them with water and further adding a gelatin and redispersing them. CONSTITUTION: The silver halide is precipitated in the presence of the gelatin and these precipitates are formed into the featherlike crystals and rinsed and redispersed by adding the gelatin. At that time, it is precipitated in the presence of the gelatin having a gold value of 10μmol per 1g of gelatin and a cysteine content of 6ppm, and it is redispersed by using the gelatin having a gold value of 23μmol per 1g of the gelatin, thus permitting the obtained emulsion to have a uniform grain diameter distribution and to avoid undesirable high fogging.
