MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To hold a tape to a prescribed position at a drum position and to improve the reliability of a track and a reproducing envelope waveform extreme ly by moving the position in a tape width direction near a reel. CONSTITUTION:A tape 17 is sent from a supplying reel 1 and a displacement gage 18 of a non-contact type is provided between a guide roller 2 and a tension roller 3. Then, the displacement of the tape in the width direction is measured and this value is compensated by an amplifying phase compensator 19 and transmitted to an actuator 20. The actuator 20 is provided in the shaft edge of a motor 21 and the fine displacement is executed in a shaft direction.
