Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having an excellent rust inhibitive effect and excellent corrosion resistance by providing a ferromagnetic metallic layer on a nonmagnetic substrate and providing a compd. layer of a cyclic compd. contg. nitrogen clathrate with a polymer having charge transfer type bonds thereon. CONSTITUTION:A polyethylene terephthalate film is used as a nonmagnetic substrate and the ferromagnetic metallic layer consisting of Co-Ni is deposited by evaporation thereon. A methyl isobutyl ketone soln. into which comercaptobenzimidazole and boron polymer are dissolved is then formed and is coated on the metallic layer. The protective layer of the comercaptobenzimidazole clathrate with the polymer having the charge transfer type bonds which have the plural semi-polar parts of boron and oxygen within one molecule is thus formed. The protective layer contg. the rust inhibitor without being scattered even if the layer is extremely thin is thereby securely formed and, therefore, the recording medium having the high rust inhibitive effect and the excellent corrosion resistance is obtd.
