description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a damping device to exhibit its damping effect even on microvibrations by fixing, near the curved end of a steel pipe pole and inside the steel pipe pole, a fixing part where one end of a coil spring is fixed into place, connecting the other end to a weight, and attaching the weight into place in such a way that it can be moved by a guide only in the direction of its axis inside the steel pipe pole. SOLUTION: When a steel pipe pole is vibrated, a weight 4 is also vibrated and absorbs part of the vibrational energy of the steel pipe pole. Also, the weight 4 collides against a stopper 5, dissipating part of the vibrational energy of the steel pipe pole. Since the vibrational energy of the steel pipe pole is absorbed thereafter by the displacement of the weight 4 due to the vibration, the energy is converted mainly into thermal energy by the collision and dissipated, and the vibration comes to a stop. In this case, the vibrational amplitude of the weight 4 decreases as damping proceeds, but since the stopper 5 is provided in the position of static equilibrium length determined with the weight 4 hanging from a coil spring 3, the weight 4 surely repeats collisions with the stopper 5 and therefore its damping function does not stop.
