To reduce the likelihood of the occurrence of scumming on a surface of a sheet.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is provided with: a scumming detection sensor 99 (scumming detection means) that detects scumming transferred to a surface of a sheet P; and an operation display panel 95 (sheet detection means) that detects a type of the sheet P to be conveyed.
