To provide a safe escalator with no accidental falls by displaying wording such as "Disinfecting" on the handrail belt.SOLUTION: There is provided an escalator handrail sanitary device 11 equipped with a cleaning cloth that comes into contact with the surface of a handrail belt 5 to clean or disinfect the surface at both the entrance and exit from the mechanical part of the handrail belt 5 or one of the entrance and exit.
