OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE

To provide an occupant protection device configured so that an airbag expanding and inflating downward from a roof side can stably receive and protect the head of an occupant.SOLUTION: An occupant protection device comprises an airbag 16, stored in a roof 4 side of a vehicle 1, which expands and inflates downward when gas G for inflation flows into the airbag and receives the head H of an occupant OP who moves forward at the time of a collision of the vehicle, and a connection member 33 connected to the airbag. The airbag completely inflating comprises a base inflation part 18 extending downward from a storage site 12, and a receiving inflation part 22 in an inflation completion shape which protrudes rearward from the base inflation part and separates an upper surface 22a side and a lower surface 22b side extending forward from a receiving surface 24 for the head of the occupant at a rear end thereof so that the surfaces are expanded to both upper and lower sides. The connection member is shifted from the receiving surface of the airbag completely inflating toward both left and right sides and connects a tip 34 side to both left and right side surfaces 16a and 16b of the airbag and connects an origin 35 side to the roof side closer to a rear side than the receiving surface of the airbag completely inflating.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】ルーフ側から下方に展開膨張したエアバッグが、安定して、乗員の頭部を受け止めて保護できる乗員保護装置を提供すること。【解決手段】車両１のルーフ４側に収納されて、膨張用ガスＧの流入時に下方に展開膨張し、車両衝突時に前方移動する乗員ＯＰの頭部Ｈを受け止めるエアバッグ１６と、エアバッグに連結される連結部材３３と、を備える。膨張完了時のエアバッグは、収納部位１２から下方へ延びる基部膨張部１８と、基部膨張部から後方へ突出し、後端の乗員頭部の受止面２４から前方に延びる上面２２ａ側と下面２２ｂ側とを、上下両側に拡開させるように離隔させる膨張完了形状の受止膨張部２２と、を備える。連結部材は、膨張完了時のエアバッグの受止面から左右両側にずれて、先端３４側を、エアバッグの左右両側面１６ａ，１６ｂに連結させ、元部３５側を、膨張完了時のエアバッグの受止面より後方のルーフ側に連結させている。【選択図】図２
