To provide an image forming apparatus that can perform printing even though drum memory communication cannot be performed.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: drum cartridges to which toner cartridges are attached; a housing to which the drum cartridges having the toner cartridges attached thereto are attached; a voltage application unit that applies a voltage to chargers; and a control unit that performs print control. The drum cartridges respectively include the chargers that charge photoreceptor drums, and drum memories that store drum information. The control unit determines if it can communicate with the drum memories, and when determining that it cannot communicate with the drum memories, applies a voltage to the chargers and determines whether printing can be performed on the basis of a result of the application.
