Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal melting method capable of resolving deviation of foaming locations and lack of foaming amounts and appropriately generating slag foaming.SOLUTION: In a metal melting method for melting a metal raw material by blending at least one of caustic lime and lime stone and an alumina source in an arc type electric furnace, oxygen of 5 Nm/t/h to 15 Nm/t/h is blown to the molten metal in the electric furnace to which the metal raw material is dissolved, carbon concentration of the molten metal is 2.3 mass% or more, basicity of the slag (mass%CaO/mass%SiO) is set at 0.5 to 1.5 and AlOconcentration of the slag is set at 5 mass% to 15 mass%.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】泡立ち箇所の偏りと泡立量の不足を解決し、適切にスラグフォーミングさせることが可能な金属溶解方法を提供する。【解決手段】アーク式電気炉により、生石灰または石灰石のうち少なくともいずれか一方とアルミナ源とを配合した金属原料を溶解する金属溶解方法において、金属原料を溶解した電気炉内の溶融金属中に対して5Nm3/t/h〜15Nm3/t/hの酸素を吹きこみ、溶融金属の炭素濃度は2.3質量%以上であり、スラグの塩基度(質量%CaO/質量%SiO2)を0.5以上1.5以下、かつ、スラグのAl2O3濃度を5質量%以上15質量%以下とする。【選択図】なし
