Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow particle having high strength, further, when being used for a friction material, sufficiently increasing the porosity of the friction material, and capable of imparting excellent fade resistance and wear resistance, and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: Provided is a hollow particle made of: a hollow part; and a shell forming the hollowing part. The shell is formed of sulfate, in which the average particle diameter is 3 to 40 μm, Mohs hardness is 1.0 to 4.0, and tap density is 0.4 to 2.2 g/cm3.
