PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarboxylic acid polymer solution capable of stably exhibiting high dispersibility with time and a method for simply and easily manufacturing the same, and a dispersant and an inorganic particle dispersion containing such a polymer solution.SOLUTION: There is provided a polycarboxylic acid polymer solution containing a polycarboxylic acid polymer having a constitutional unit derived from partial neutralized article by hydroxide of a Group 2 element in the periodic table of ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid, where the partial neutralized article has a neutralization rate by hydroxide of the Group 2 element in the periodic table of 20 to 70 mol% and a molecular weight distribution (weight average molecular weight/number average molecular weight) of the polymer of 2.4 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】経時的に安定して高分散性を発揮することができるポリカルボン酸系重合体水溶液及びこれを簡便かつ容易に製造する方法を提供すること。また、このような重合体水溶液を含む分散剤及び無機粒子分散体を提供すること。【解決手段】ポリカルボン酸系重合体を含む水溶液であって、該ポリカルボン酸系重合体は、エチレン性不飽和カルボン酸の周期表第２族元素の水酸化物による部分中和物に由来する構成単位を有し、該部分中和物は、周期表第２族元素の水酸化物による中和率が２０〜７０モル％であり、該重合体の分子量分布（重量平均分子量／数平均分子量）は、２．４以下であるポリカルボン酸系重合体水溶液。【選択図】なし
