Further the computer drives the motor in a direction for moving the movable type tray toward a set position (S21); and when the first sensor detects the portion to be detected and is turned on (YES at S22), stops the driving of the motor (S23) so as to arrange the movable tray at the set position. 【課題】検出対象の位置状態の数より少ない数のセンサーでも、印刷装置の制御上必要な可動式の媒体収容部の複数の位置状態を検出することができる印刷装置を提供する。【解決手段】プリンターは、可動式トレイの被検知部を検知可能な第1センサーを備えている。プリンター内のコンピューターは、可動式トレイが給送位置へ向かう方向へモーターを駆動し(S11)、可動式トレイが給送位置にある分離機構に当たってモーターの駆動負荷が閾値を超える度当てが検出されると(S12で肯定)、モーターの駆動を停止する(S13)。また、コンピューターは、可動式トレイがセット位置へ向かう方向へモーターを駆動し(S21)、第1センサーが被検知部を検知してオンすると(S22で肯定)、モーターの駆動を停止し(S23)、可動式トレイはセット位置に配置される。【選択図】図11
