PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of making harmless a solid containing an organic halide which achieves a high decomposition rate more rapidly by a simple operation.SOLUTION: A method of making harmless a solid containing an organic halide comprises bringing a solid containing an organic halide into contact with an agent to reduce the organic halide with the agent so as to make the organic halide harmless, without a mechanochemical treatment. The agent is at least partially a metal dispersion which is prepared by dispersing a nano-size metal in calcium oxide which has a moisture-adjusting function and adsorbs water acting as a hydrogen source, and the metal forms a concentration cell in the metal dispersion and acts as an electrode to the solid to donate electrons to the organic halide. 【課題】簡単な操作でより迅速により高い分解率が得られる有機ハロゲン化合物を含有する固体の無害化方法を提供する。【解決手段】有機ハロゲン化合物を含有する固体と薬剤とを接触させ、前記薬剤により前記有機ハロゲン化合物を還元し無害化する、メカノケミカル処理によらない有機ハロゲン化合物を含有する固体の無害化方法であって、前記薬剤が、少なくとも一部はナノサイズの金属を水分調整機能を有し水素源として作用する水を吸着する酸化カルシウム中に分散させた金属分散体であり、前記金属は、前記金属分散体中で濃淡電池を形成し、かつ前記固体に対して電極として作用し有機ハロゲン化合物に電子を供与する。【選択図】なし
