An angle signal determination circuit 30 inputs the peak value or the bottom value of the amplitude of the waveform signal and acquires the rotation reference position on the basis of the peak value or the bottom value. 【課題】回転体の回転基準位置の検出精度を向上させることができる回転検出装置を提供する。【解決手段】第1磁気抵抗素子対23は、シグナルロータ10の回転に伴って第1磁気抵抗素子23a及び第2磁気抵抗素子23bが磁場の影響を受けたときの抵抗値の変化に基づいて波形信号を出力する。第1磁気抵抗素子対23は、波形信号として、シグナルロータ10の凹凸に対応する第1波形と、突起12から欠歯部13への切り替わりに対応すると共に第1波形よりも振幅が大きい第2波形と、を含んだ信号を出力する。また、ピーク・ボトム検出判定・保持回路27は、波形信号を入力して第1波形の振幅よりも大きい第2波形の振幅のピーク値またはボトム値を検出する。そして、角度信号判定回路30は、波形信号の振幅のピーク値またはボトム値を入力し、ピーク値またはボトム値に基づいて回転基準位置を取得する。【選択図】図2
