METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING METALLIC STRUCTURE MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a metallic structure material in which first and second plate-like parts are jointed via a corner part and the corner part is reinforced suitably, with high manufacturing efficiency and at a low cost.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a metallic structure material 1 in which first and second plate-like parts 11 and 12 are jointed via a corner part C, includes the steps of: heating a part 14 serving as the corner part C of a metal plate 1A serving as a raw material; press-working the metal plate 1A by using dies 20-22 to form the heated part 14 as a swollen part 15, and cooling the swollen part 15 for quenching by using the dies 20-22; and bending the boundary part between the swollen part 15 and the second plate-like part 12 so that the swollen part 15 becomes the corner part C, and a portion connected to both sides of the swollen part 15 becomes the first and second plate-like parts 11 and 12.
