PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator monitoring device which can accurately detect the failure of a hall call button.SOLUTION: An elevator monitoring device for monitoring the presence or absence of an abnormality in an elevator includes: an up button depression frequency measuring section which measures and records the depression frequency of an up button 21a of hall call buttons 21 for each hall on each floor; a down button depression frequency measuring section which measures and records the depression frequency of a down button 21b of the hall call buttons 21 for each hall on each floor; an up button failure determination section which compares the measured depression frequency of the up button 21a during the preceding one week period and the measured depression frequency of the up button 21a during this one week period for each hall on each floor, and thereby determines whether the up button 21a has failed; and a down button failure determination section which compares the measured depression frequency of the down button 21b during the preceding one week period and the measured depression frequency of the down button 21b during this one week period for each hall on each floor, and thereby determines whether the down button 21b has failed.
