Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply and inexpensively configured carriage locking device capable of surely maintaining the capped state of a head by surely locking a carriage even when strong impact is applied.SOLUTION: A carriage locking device includes a carriage 5 on which a recording head 4 operated vertically to a sheet conveying direction is mounted, a cap 24 for sealing the recording head 4 to perform maintenance and holding, and a carriage locking mechanism for locking the movement of the carriage 5 to hold the cap 24. As the mechanism for locking the carriage 5, fitting of the lock pin 25a of a carriage lock 25 in the carriage lock fitting hole 26a of a carriage lock fitting part 26 is used. The fitting is operated from one direction. Mechanisms for locking the carriage 5 are arranged at two positions sandwiching the recording head 4 capped with the cap 24.
