description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capacitance type touch panel which is inexpensive and excellent in visibility without arranging any resistor or detection electrode formed of transparent materials in an input operation area.SOLUTION: A transparent input operation board whose input operation area in an opening is formed of a transparent body is supported on an insulating support body such that the aperture of the opening is covered, and a plurality of detection electrodes are arranged on the insulating support body so as to be brought into contact with the transparent input operation board in the periphery of the opening, and an AC detection signal in which a relative potential between an input operation body and each detection electrode fluctuates is transmitted from transmission means. Since the reception level of the AC detection signal appearing in a detection electrode is proportional to a capacitance which is in inverse proportion to a distance between the detection electrode and the input operation body, the input operation position of the input operation body in an opposite direction is detected from the relative ratio of the reception level of the AC detection signal appearing in a set of opposite detection electrodes at the opening. Since any detection electrode for detecting the input operation position is not arranged in the input operation area, the detection electrode can be formed without using any transparent conductive material.
