description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine in which an operator can easily adjust the position of a needle drop point when restarting sewing, regardless of the presence or absence of a component provided around the lower end of a needle bar.SOLUTION: When sewing is interrupted because of an abnormality during sewing, a CPU enters a virtual needle drop point mode and moves a holder so that a needle drop point is located at a position separated by a prescribed distance from an original position directly under a sewing needle in a prescribed direction (S221). The CPU displays a synthetic image showing the needle drop point on an object to be sewn after the movement as a virtual needle drop point which can be visually recognized (S222). An operator inputs an instruction for retreating the needle drop point by one stitch or advancing the needle drop point by one-stitch (S227: YES, S231: YES) to designate the needle drop point when restarting sewing (S228, S232). When the CPU detects the input of an instruction for restarting sewing (S226: YES), the CPU enters a normal mode and moves the holder so that the needle drop point when restarting sewing is located directly under the sewing needle (S242). The sewing machine restarts sewing from the designated needle drop point (S243).
