PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical unit configured by bundling a plurality of optical fibers, in which the optical fibers in the optical unit can be easily connected to optical fibers of another optical unit, and the diameter of the optical unit can be reduced without loosening the optical fibers configuring the optical units in the vicinity of a terminal and without generating excessive extension or disconnection of a plastic film bundling the optical fibers.SOLUTION: A method includes a step for cylindrically forming a thermoplastic film tape while leaving overlapping part in a circumferential direction of the film tape to form a cylindrical film 3 and a step for storing and integrating an optical fiber group 2 in the cylindrical film 3. An inner diameter of the cylindrically formed cylindrical film 3 is smaller than an outer diameter of the optical fiber group 2.
