DIVERSITY OPTICAL TRANSMISSION DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diversity optical transmission device and a method, capable of large capacity and long distance transmission by diversity transmission using a multi-core optical fiber.SOLUTION: The diversity optical transmission device performs diversity transmission of signal light between optical transmission means and optical reception means using, as a transmission medium, a multi-core optical fiber constituted of a plurality N or more of cores. The diversity optical transmission device includes: light division means for dividing the intensity of the signal light transmitted from the optical transmission means into N segments, to input into N cores of the multi-core optical fiber; light weighting means for weighting signal light output from the N cores of the multi-core optical fiber according to each core characteristic, to align the amplitude and the phase thereof; and light synthesis means for composing signal light corresponding to each core output from the light weighting means to output to the optical reception means.
