PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-photon organic electroluminescent element including a charge generation layer formed with a material hardly causing deterioration even in an atmosphere at around ordinary pressure.SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent element 10 includes: a pair of electrodes comprising an anode 32 and a cathode 34; a plurality of luminous layers 50 provided between the electrodes; and a charge generation layer 70 provided between adjacent luminous layers. In the organic electroluminescent element, the charge generation layer includes an ionic polymer generating at least one of electrons and positive holes.
