Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imitation linear object having appearance like a linear object such as straw, rush, totora, Scirpus tabernaemontani, woven straw mat and Calameae, which is disposable and widely used for such as New Year Holidays' decorations, handiworks or various craft products as a substitute for these linear objects.SOLUTION: An imitation linear object 11 is made by coating a dyeing starch on the surface of a twisted paper thread 12 formed by twisting a bundle of paper tapes so that the surface of the twisted paper thread 12 has shading dyed portions 13 composed of a light-colored portion and a dark-colored portion. The imitation linear object 11 has more natural appearance by forming the twisted paper thread 12 so as to have a strongly-twisted part and a weakly-twisted part in the longitudinal direction, and further coating the paper thread with a sponge for forming the shading dyed portions 13.
