Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-purity epoxy resin produced by using an epihalohydrin, and having the extremely reduced total halogen content.SOLUTION: The epoxy resin is obtained by the reaction of an active hydrogen compound with the epihalohydrin, and has ≤80 wt.ppm of the total halogen content. The epoxy resin obtained by the reaction of the active hydrogen compound with the epihalohydrin is purified by a sublimation method, a distillation method, a crystallization method or an alkali cleaning method. The epoxy resin can provide a high-reliability epoxy resin-cured product useful as an electric or electronic material such as various kinds of insulation materials and laminated sheets, and hardly having problems of elution of the halogen.
