description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat sink having high heat dissipation properties. SOLUTION: The heat sink includes a base 10, a fin 11 having a structure in which a plurality of cylindrical members are connected in parallel, and support units supporting the fin 11 which are provided with a gap between the lower end of the fin 11 and the top surface of the base 10. By this arrangement, the external air enters through the gap 13 provided between the lower end of the fin 11 and the top surface of the base 10, so that the air flows onto the top surface of the base 10 to which heat from a heat source is transferred, and cools the surface. Receiving the heat, the air rises and passes through the cylindrical members of the fin and further cools the heat transferred to the fin 11 via the support units 12. A convection current is thus generated, which improves efficiency of heat dissipation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
