OPTICAL DISK DRIVE, OPTICAL PICKUP, PRE-FORMAT SIGNAL GENERATING METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive for stably detecting a pre-format signal preset in a recording track on an optical disk while reducing an effect from a stray light between layers, and to provide an optical pickup, a pre-format signal generating method and a program. SOLUTION: The optical disk drive includes a determining unit for determining the type of the optical disk, and a signal processor for generating the pre-format signal which represents the pre-format signal recorded in advance in the track groove of the optical disk, based on a received light signal generated by zero-order light receiving area arranged in a radiating position of a reflected zero-order optical beam in accordance with the result of the determining unit, or received light signals generated by the first receiving light area and second receiving light area set on the first direction side in the radiating position of the reflected zero-order optical beam.
