Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for controlling the distribution and use of digital works. SOLUTION: A usage right repository determines a usage right designating how a first document is to be utilized or distributed. The usage right includes information on embedding of a watermark into a second document, and the second document is generated as a result of exercising the usage right for the first document. A data repository collects watermark data while the usage right is exercised for the first document. A watermark repository generates the watermark on the basis of the collected watermark data and, according to the information included in the usage right, the generated watermark is embedded in the second document.
