PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To input a needle position more properly for idle feed in editing sewing data. SOLUTION: The sewing data editing device 20 for a sewing machine M conducts sewing to a subject in accordance with a sewing pattern based on sewing data in which a plurality of needle positions are recorded. The sewing data editing device includes input means 21 to input the needle positions, storage means 25 to store range distribution information 25b to part a work range where a sewing needle and a holding frame are relatively movable to a sewing possible area A1 in which sewing is possible with needle location, an idle feed area in which idle feed is possible, and an elimination area in which both sewing and idle feed are impossible, and showing means 22 to show which area the needle position inputted from the input means is located in.
