SOLUTION: In the ink jet recorder, a waste ink discharged by a suction recovery means for recovering a discharge state of a recording head is temporarily made to flow into a waste ink storage for storing the waste ink, and a deposit accumulated in the waste ink route is washed out by making the waste ink flow all at once into the waste ink route having the slope when the waste ink is accumulated to a prescribed amount, and is certainly accommodated in a waste ink storage part on the downstream side.
