NAVIGATION DEVICE, NAVIGATION METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system 10 for quickly providing to a user, information necessary for the user to search for a detour, when traffic congestion occurs. SOLUTION: This navigation system 10 includes a database 26 for storing map data and link data being information on links representing roads, a current position calculation part 25 for calculating the current position and traveling direction of a vehicle, a traffic congestion information receiving part 21 for receiving traffic congestion information comprising information representing the start points and end points of traffic congestion sections, and a congestion spot display part 22 which identifies ends of traffic congestion sections being ahead of the vehicle, creates a traffic congestion spot map being a map focusing on the identified ends by a predetermined contraction scale from map data inside the database 26 on the basis of the current position and traveling direction of the vehicle and the received traffic congestion information, and displays the created traffic congestion spot map together with the traffic congestion information on the display device 12.
