Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a degree of freedom of a layout, to reduce weight and cost, and to optionally set the position number by a combination of the force direction of a select lever, by simply constituting a shift mechanism. SOLUTION: This shift position determining device of an automatic transmission determines a position of a select lever 1 in a range switching device of the automatic transmission of an automobile, and includes strain sensors 2 and 3 for detecting a force quantity applied to the select lever 1 and the direction, and predicts an operation target position by detecting the direction of force applied to the select lever 1 at any time.
